On Sunday, we visited the Synagogue of the ‘Mountain Jews’ or Juhro, as they call themselves. The Mountain Jews come from Dagestan and the Eastern part of the Caucasus, but originally from Persia, where their forefathers used to live. This is probably why, their language, Juhuri, is closely related to Middle Persian.
Inside the synagogue:
In a synagogue it's men who have to cover their heads. It makes for the intra-religious justice but only almost so (as in majority of religions women have to wear a scarf)
When someone from the community dies, you light an electric candel on this table and put his name next to it.
